I’ve been doing workouts at our local gym for four straight weeks and it’s been great! Although I haven’t noticed any significant changes in my body, I have been able to increase the weights that I’m using in my workouts and best of all, I’ve noticed an improvement in my running. I can run at faster intervals for longer period of times, which I’m really excited about!
I’ve tried several different protein powders and I finally found one that I really like. It has everything that I’ve been looking for: great taste, low in calories, fat and carbs.
I’ve been starting out every morning with a smoothie made with greens, either kale or spinach, a scoop of the Sunwarrior protein powder, a tablespoon of ground flaxseed, frozen fruit and/or berries, and unsweetened soy milk. It’s been a great way to get in some protein, along with other healthy nutrients, first thing in the morning!
Does anyone out there suffer from seasonal affect disorder? I’m not sure if I have it, but I can tell you that I do get a bad case of the winter blues every year around this time. I absolutely hate winter. HATE. IT. I miss warmth and sunshine. It’s going to be a long 3-4 months for me. Joining the gym has helped a great deal. As much as I hate going outside when it’s cold and snowy, I look forward to going to the gym to work out and so instead of hibernating like a bear, which is what I really want to do, I get to the gym three days a week to get my workout on. On the other days I run on the treadmill that I have at home. Exercise keeps the blues at bay, and I think that healthy eating and just trying to keep a social life going helps a great deal.
Still……I’ll be counting down the days until summer.
I’m happy the gym is working out for you.
