Good morning, friends! I hope you’ve had a great weekend so far! I just wanted to check in and let you know how I’m doing on my weight experiment.
Although the weekend isn’t quite over yet, I’m happy to report that things are going well so far! I haven’t had any huge cravings of alcohol, which is a miracle, considering the stressful week I have had. David had shoulder surgery this week; nothing serious, but he is in pain and is only able to use one arm, so I have to help him a lot. I’m doing everything around the house and for a couple of nights didn’t get much sleep because I was taking care of David.
Yesterday was a beautiful day and David was going a bit stir-crazy, so we sat outside on the back patio and drank coffee and you know what? It was just as nice without the alcohol.
It has only been a week, so I haven’t really noticed any significant differences yet. Because we were at home all weekend due to David’s recovery, we didn’t go out and so I haven’t overeaten this weekend. And because David is on narcotic pain medication, he isn’t drinking and therefore, I’m not tempted to drink.
Once David is feeling better and we are able to go out and he is drinking again, I anticipate struggling more. But I’m ready for it. Going without alcohol for one week hasn’t been torture, so I know I can do it for three more weeks.
I haven’t changed the way I’m eating, since I want to figure out what specific thing(s) I need to cut out or cut back in order to stay at a healthy weight. However, I have noticed that I have less “munchies” and am craving less junk food when I’m not drinking. It will be interesting to see if this pattern continues throughout the next few weeks.
We have another beautiful day forecasted today, so I’m hoping that David and I can get out for a little walk and enjoy the nice weather on the back patio with a nice cup of tea.
