Two weeks into challenge – UPDATE

Good morning!  It has been a very chilly, dreary, rainy weekend here and yesterday we caved in and turned on the heat when the house temperature was down to 61 degrees.  I’m just not ready for this weather at all.

I do have some good news, though.  I’ve completed two weeks of Lean & Strong Phase 1 and I’m pleased to report that not only have I stuck with the challenge and not had any alcohol, but I have lost 3 pounds!  For the first time in I can’t even remember, the scale is consistently moving in the right direction.

In addition to the weight loss, I have noticed that my cravings for junk food have decreased, and I am snacking less in general.  I have been writing down everything I’m eating for meals, and doing that has verified that I really do eat healthy most of the time with the occasional not-so-healthy meal.   I’m also continuing to work out four days a week.

I’m not going to lie, though:  I MISS MY WINE!  But I’ve honestly been doing fine without it.  I have found that a cup of tea works just as well as a stress reliever.  But I do miss having a glass of wine while I’m making dinner or in the evenings after a stressful day.  However, knowing that cutting out the alcohol seems to be helping me with weight loss is motivation enough for me to complete the 30-day challenge, and if the benefit continues, I will most likely continue leaving it out of my diet for another month to see what happens.  But I will make that decision in two weeks.

I’m also excited because tomorrow I’m going to revisit a workout program that I did a couple of years ago:  PiYO.  I’ve been getting a bit bored with the workouts I’m doing and I feel like I need to switch things up and I’ve been getting the itch to try yoga, so my goal is to complete two months of the PiYO program to see how things go.  There is a yoga workout program that I have put on my Amazon wish list and I may treat myself if things continue to go well!

  1. Congratulations! I do well through the week but my problem is sweets and breads on the weekends. Somehow I managed a good weekend this past weekend and the scale smiled on me this morning. I’ve been hovering near the 150 mark and I feel better when I’m in the low 140s. (5’4″ medium frame) I’d actually like to see if the 130s could ever come back.

    1. Melissa – I would love to be able to be at the weight I was at when I did my first marathon over 3 years ago. I was in great shape at that time and was at the lowest weight I’d been since college! But realistically, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to be at that weight again, especially since I’m not running for hours at a time like I was back then! But I do feel like I can get close to a healthy weight again and can feel comfortable in my clothes again, which is the goal I’m striving for.
