Guys, I finished the 8-week LIIFT4 program this week! I went from using baby 2-lb weights to making it through “shred” weeks 7 and 8 without dying! Other than training for my running milestones, this is the first time I’ve gone through an entire workout program from start to finish and I can’t even tell you how proud and excited I was after that final workout.
But I’m not done. Tomorrow I’m going to start the program over and those 2-lb baby weights are going to be banished to the corner to collect dust. I’m increasing my weights and I can’t wait to see how much stronger I’ll be after the second round of the program.
What I liked best about the program: the variety and mix of the workout exercises. No workout was the same and so I never got bored. I loved that there were only four workout days each week. On scheduled recovery days, I rested or I did other types of workouts, such as walking, dance aerobics, or biking. I loved that the trainer, Joel Freeman, encouraged form rather than amount of weight. He was also very motivating and I truly felt like he was in the room with me cheering me on. The cast in the workouts was fun. I honestly have no negative comments. I looked forward to working out each morning.
Hold on. Wait. Did I just say I looked forward to working out in the mornings? I know, RIGHT?? But it’s true. I’ve never been able to consistently work out in the mornings. EVER. But I was able to do it with this program and there’s no reason for me not to continue doing so.
I have no before or after photos. In fact, I don’t even think I lost any weight over these last two months. However, I don’t even care about that. I’m realistic enough to know that I’ll never look like any of the cast members. It’s okay. I’m just happy that I’m getting stronger and feeling good. Maybe after the next round I’ll see more results. Or maybe not. Either way, I’m just happy to be excited about exercise again!
I hope your week is fantastic!
May your glass always be full,
