Wow, it’s the last day of January 2021, guys! Here in Iowa, we are once again dealing with more snow. It’s been a really snowy winter. I’m thankful that I don’t have to commute every day to work right now and can just stay indoors where it’s safe and warm, although there are a couple of days a week when I do have to go in, but two days are better than five!
Right now I’m drinking Energize and will be pressing play soon on the final workout of week 1 of Phase 2 of 9 Week Control Freak! This week was intense and I’m feeling sore everywhere, but I’m loving the program.
I’m also starting 75 Hard tomorrow. If you’re not familiar with 75 Hard, you can read my post here. I feel like I’ve done all of the planning and preparation that I can do going in and I’m sure there will be some adjustments that have to be made. This week I worked on increasing the amount of water I’m drinking so that drinking a gallon of water isn’t such a big shock for my body. A gallon is totally doable, though, and I’m already noticing positive changes. I don’t snack as much during the day and my appetite has decreased. I’m so busy drinking water (and running to the bathroom – ha!) that I don’t really think about what junky snacks we might have in the cupboard.
I can’t help but be obsessed with the weather forecasts. One of my workouts daily has to be outside, so that’s the task that I feel could be the most challenging for me. I don’t normally like to go outside in the cold or snow, but I know the fresh air will be good for me. I know if I just bundle up and get my butt moving, it will be fine. However, next weekend the forecast is calling for possible -20 temperatures and blizzard-like weather. I can’t worry about it right now; I just have to deal with it when the time comes, but I PROMISE I will not put myself in danger. No challenge is worth that.
Since I’ll be following a plant-based, vegan diet, I loaded up on vegetables and fruits at our recent grocery shopping trip. Today I made some tofu scramble to have for breakfast this week. For dinner I’m making some split pea soup and will eat the leftovers for my lunches. I also have bananas, blueberries, and kiwi, cashew yogurt, fresh greens, and tempeh to eat. My belly is ready for lots of yummy, healthy meals!
To keep track of my daily tasks, I’ll be writing down everything in a journal. There is an app for 75 Hard to help keep track of everything, but I love my pen and paper tracking system, so I’ll try that and see how it works for me. I’ll also try and post as many updates as I can on this blog site. And, of course, I’ll be posting daily on social media.
I know this won’t be easy, but I know I can do it! I know that I’ll reap so many positive benefits from doing this and that’s why I’m challenging myself to do this program.
Send warm, sunny thoughts my way! I’ll need them during these upcoming cold, wintry, blustery weeks!
May your glass always be full,
